Cannery Row After Steinbeck Photos by Pat Hathaway in both Black & White and Color I have been photographing and documenting Cannery Row for over 41 years From the end of the Sardine fishing industry in the 1960's to the building of the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the 1980's And the new building that are replacing the canneries today. The National Trust for Historic Preservation listed Cannery Row on its 1998 annual list of Americas 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.
