This photo by
Lewis Josselyn shows Pfeiffer's Resort and the Big Sur Post Office. South of the Monterey Peninsula on the Big Sur coast in California. Big Sur gets its name from the original Spanish-language "el sur grande". We also have photos of Point Sur Lighthouse, Slate's Hot Springs vicinity is now home to the Esalen Institute, ship landings - doghole ports/landings, and ship wrecks of the Big Sur Coast, Point Sur Light Station and the building of Highway One AKA The Pacific Coast Highway it was completed in June of 1937. |
