This view by Eadweard Muybridge is of two prospectors, one Chinese and the other Caucasian, working together on a placer claim in the Gold Country of California's Mother Load. We also have other photos by Muybridge. He also photographed the Modoc Indian War in 1873, and also did a series of Gold Mining. He is best know for his animal locomotion and motion studies of a running horse. Eadweard Muybridge died on May 8, 1904 in Kingston-upon-Thames, England. We also have photos of the Harvard Gold Mine at Wood's Creek in Jamestown, Tuolumne County, Circa 1910 California North Coast, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.
